Letter to Branches
No. 109/12 Ref 42100 Date: 15th February 2012
TO: All Postal Branches
Dear Colleague,
Agency Workshops – 19th & 21st March 2012 (London and Midlands)
Branches will recall previous correspondence relating to the use of agency workers and the inception of the wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Mail Group, “angard staffing solutions”.
This LTB is to advise branches that the Postal and Education & Training Departments’ have devised a one day workshop which focuses on the Agency Workers Regulations and the importance of CWU engagement with affected workers, whether working for angard or any other agency.
The workshops will be delivered regionally. Initially, two pilot days have been organised in London and the Midlands. A further roll out of the event will be organised once we evaluate feedback from the initial workshops.
Additionally, an abridged shorter duration “off the shelf” seminar is being developed for branches to use for cascade briefings for local representatives.
The first two workshops are as detailed below and owing to a limit on numbers will be on a first come first served basis. We request that branches register for the event by emailing our course administrator Maxine Todd at mtodd@cwu.org.
Branches will be limited to sending two representatives and are reminded that any expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the branch. It will also be useful for branches to ensure that those representatives attending are those with key responsibility for organising within the branch.
• Agency Workshop 1: 19th March 2012, Conference Room 3, CWU Headquarters, 150 The Broadway, Wimbledon, London SW19 1RX 10:00 – 16:00
• Agency Workshop 2: 21st March 2012, Birmingham and District Amal, CWU Office, 46 – 48 Summer Lane, Birmingham B19 3TH 10:00 – 16:00
Also embedded within this LTB is a draft workshop outline which may be subject to some minor change. However, please note the pre-workshop activity which attendees are required to carry out prior to attendance at the workshop.
Further information if required can be obtained from Lionel Sampson at lsampson@cwu.org or Lee Wakeman at lwakeman@cwu.org.
For reference, the following LTBs have previously been issued in relation to angard/Agency; LTBs 804/11, 1063/11, 1076/11 and 044/12.
Yours sincerely,
Dave Ward Trish Lavelle
Deputy General Secretary (Postal) Head of Education & Training

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
