JOE MENZIES – Former MEMBER OF THE CWU NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL – SCOTLAND NO5 Branch

It is with regret that I write to inform you that Joe Menzies passed away on Wednesday 16th January.

Joe joined the union (then known as UPW) on commencing Post Office employment and after a year he was elected Postman Section Secretary. During his time in the union Joe held many positions including Assistant Branch Secretary, Branch Secretary, ADO(P), DO(P), Regional Postal Committee, Scottish Council committee, National Delegate to STUC and as an Executive Council member.

At this sad time our thoughts are of course with Joe’s family and on behalf of the CWU, I convey our deepest sympathy and condolences. He will be sorely missed by members, colleagues and friends within the union and the wider labour movement.

We will forward details of Joe’s funeral arrangements in due course.

JOE MENZIES – FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

With reference to LTB number 028/19, we can now advise Branches that the funeral arrangements are as follows:

Date: Friday 1st February 2019

Time: 10.30 a.m.

Venue: Perth Crematorium

There will be a collection on the day with all with proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Organisation.

Our thoughts are with Joe’s family at this very sad time.
