COMPOSITE MOTION 112, POSTAL GROUP CONFERENCE 2018 – ROYAL MAIL CHRISTMAS ARRANGEMENT

Branches will recall that Postal Group Conference carried Composite Motion 112 standing in the name of the Anglia Division, Eastern No3 and Eastern No4 Branches. The motion called for an agreement on Royal Mail Christmas Arrangements 2018/19 to be reached by the 31st October 2018, with a full report to Branches by the 2nd November 2018 were that not the case.

In line with the aims of the motion the Postal Department requested early engagement on this year’s arrangements and discussions have been progressed on a cross departmental basis. However, while an initial meeting to commence discussions took place on the 4th June 2018, progress in concluding an agreement has been protracted, with significant delays in drafting due to extremely slow responses from the business.

At the time of writing this LTB despite a number of late meetings, it has not yet been possible to conclude an acceptable agreement. It should be made clear however discussions with the business have not broken down, and given progress in recent days it has been agreed that a further meeting will take place on the 5th November 2018 with a view to concluding an agreement.

In these circumstances it is our intention to continue discussions on the 5th November with the aim of finalising an agreement and Branches and Divisions will be updated accordingly following that meeting.
