TERMS OF REFERENCE BETWEEN ROYAL MAIL AND THE CWU FOR THE RE-DEPLOYMENT OF THE UPDATED MASTER DUTY SET (MDS) TO BECOME A STANDARD APPLICATION TO ASSIST IN RESOURCING IN MAIL CENTRES AND REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTRES
Dear Colleagues
Branches and representatives will be aware that LTB 441/18 provided the Terms of Reference covering the trial of Resource Scheduler, which included a reference within the Processing Annex to a separate TOR on the introduction on an updated version of the Master Duty Set (MDS).
It is anticipated that this updated version of MDS will simplify and coordinate some current resourcing activity carried out in Bookrooms. The latest iteration will also be used to populate the Resource Scheduler tool and as such safeguards designed to deal with any adverse impact were built into the TORs to support the trial activity.
Regardless of the outcome of the Resource Scheduler trial MDS will remain part of the suite of resourcing tools in Processing. Equally, if any deployment outcomes for Resource Scheduler are agreed following the trial activity then MDS will continue to run in support of that system.
It has however also been established that the deployment of the latest version of MDS will not be confined to just the agreed Resource Scheduler trial sites, and as such the department viewed it as imperative that the same level of protection is afforded to all Bookroom staff across the Mail Centre and RDC estates.
Discussions with the business have therefore taken place and attached for the information of Branches and representatives is a new, standalone, Terms of Reference that has been concluded and endorsed by the Postal Executive, which covers the generic deployment of MDS and extends the full range of protections included in the RS, TOR to all Mail Centre/ RDC sites.
Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to: Davie Robertson, Assistant Secretary, email: dwyatt@cwu.org or shayman@cwu.org quoting reference 733.04.
Yours sincerely
Davie Robertson
Assistant Secretary
