Dear Colleagues,

ONLINE JOINING

Branches will be aware from LTB 131/16 dated 2nd March 2016 that we introduced online joining on Monday 14th March 2016. Since that date we have received some positive and constructive feedback from branches. There is an issue that requires further investigation within the T&FS constituency around the provision of workplace information and we are working towards resolving this as soon as possible.

In the first month we have processed 277 online applications, the breakdown of which are 153 T&FS, 124 Postal, and 116 new members have joined by Direct Debit in non recognised industries which in general means this has been via our web page and as a direct result of introducing the online joining process.

We consider this to represent an excellent start, however branches should maximise the use of online joining and guide any potential new member to use the service, especially those that have to join by Direct Debit as the internal process is considerably more efficient than the previous method for paying by DD. Moving forward it will be our intention to produce posters and leaflets to assist branches when recruiting or to display on unit notice boards.

Branches are also reminded they can utilise the online services by joining new members who have completed paper application forms within any business where we have an agreement for deductions at source (DAS). This would speed up the joining process and they would become active members earlier.
