Dear Colleague

Ken Hanbury – Former CWU Regional Secretary of the Wales and the Marches Region

It is with sadness that I write to inform you that Ken Hanbury, retired member and former Regional Secretary of the Wales and the Marches Region, sadly passed away at his home in Port Talbot on the 25th of August 21 after a long battle with cancer.

Ken, joined one of our former unions the UPW in 1967 and went on to hold various positions within the CWU giving many years of loyal service to our members and the union.

When the CWU came into being, Ken became the Regional Secretary for Wales & the Marches and remained in that position until his retirement in 2008.

Ken represented the CWU on the Wales TUC General Council and was active in the Welsh Labour Party, attending its Annual Conferences and leading the CWU delegation for many years.

Friends and colleagues remember Ken with great warmth and kindness as a committed family man, trade unionist and someone who was very well respected within the CWU and throughout the Welsh Labour Movement.

We are advised that Ken’s funeral will be a private family service and on behalf of the CWU we offer our sincere condolences to Ken’s family and all his friends and colleagues within the union.

Yours sincerely,

Dave Ward

General Secretary

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
