Not trying to be melodramatic here but there are a few posties on delivery hitting the bottle (even more than usual) and some are struggling with their relationships. Is there a correlation or has it always been an issue?

i can believe it,many in my office are on the brink. We have had many off with stress & this year one broke down in tears infront of us all & had months off sick with stress. All due to workload & being pressured into doing it with the constant threat of performance & swinging the led! Its just crazy in delivery now!

Actually steve there's been no winners or losers mentioned........................yet, but if you're in deliveries prepare for the worst. dingo more or less said that they wouldn't want to forego all the concessions for the sake of failing to reach agreement on deliveries............sooooooo what chance an "interim agreement" on everything except deliveries which will be ongoing with studies, working parties, CWU involvement, maintaining full time employment in the main(which is moving down to the 60/40 mark nationally and how is that going to be policed?), fair and manageable work loads which was part and parcel of BT2010

I think all the issues stem from Deliveries. To sort that out takes time. It obviously is a problem. Some of the stories I hear,(check the above threads),make me want to cry. Having represented deliveries over 15 years I can see the change. The bullying, not to mention the changes to our members. Do the business and it's henchman recognise this? No.

The problem lies with the individuals "not in the room". It will take time. But time is what we have and a ballot too. More so we are now dealing with a private company.

Now we are so close to Christmas, I would find it very difficult to justify a strike to my family.
Its one thing struggling to pay the bills, but when it comes to the kids potentially missing out on presents.
That's another whole kettle of fish. They would not understand why there are no presents under the tree.
And its unfair to ask them to either.

I want to see smiles on my kids faces not tears.

So about time CWU came up with the goods, or they can pack up and piss off.

I remember the days when most spent most of the days in the pub and especially the good old days on the stations. Also the wives used to wait outside the office to collect the wages off there partners before they could spend it. Days you were paid in cash..personally I think the drinking culture has gone down as a lot of offices are on industrial estates away from pubs

Postaltony, you may be able to afford christmas for your kids this year by not striking, but if this agreement is lost because thousands give up the call to arms, next year you may be wishing that you had made the sacrifice.

What I was about to say. Like it or not and yes I have kids, them not having what they want (present wise) are first world problems in a much bigger picture.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one
