LTB 160/20 - PRIVATE CARS ON DELIVERY DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
If I work with my partner/housemate can we share a van to our delivery point or for other business?
No, in line with ‘social distancing’ guidelines from Public Health, the business has moved to one person in a vehicle at one time until further notice.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Even if you are driving to your 1st point of delivery you are still carrying out work and therefore it is against the law.DO NOT USE YOUR CAR UNLESS YOU HAVE PAID FOR BUSINESS INSURANCEclashcityrocker wrote:It is about using your car to get to the start of your van share duty to avoid having two to a van.5plusbonusball wrote:what all this about?
Once on delivery you don't use your car again until you go home.
Whether this is practical I don't know.
I think going down the road of staggered start times - one does one duty in the morning, the other does the other duty in the afternoon -would be preferable. It would reduce the numbers in the DO in the morning as well.

Use of own car shouldn't be considered under any circumstance. I see this as a back door way of gradually introducing owner driver deliveries like a lot of other companies. In my opinion I think a lot of changes have and will be made sneakily under the cover of Coronavirus that will not revert back when its all over.

I noticed this amongst the gubbins..
Just funny as f**k.
So you could get conducted for bumping your own motor?Collisions in private vehicles on delivery must be reported using the usual ERICA process and investigated following the usual Road Traffic Accident Procedure Agreement applicable to your business unit.

Several staff in our office jumped right in thinking it would make life easier for them for a couple of weeks. Now the novelty of finishing on street every day has worn off they are getting a bit miffed with it now being expected of them to use their vehicle.centenaryman wrote:lad i work with follows me to the walks...and on to the loops in his car.....we have a lot of speed bumps on ours....told me today he`s had enough of using his own car like that for a few pence a mile

Too true, DO NOT USE YOUR CARS you are putting more money in bosses pockets when all they give you is a £140 after tax bonus and a few extra pennies when they are making millions off your back, you've got to be a complete moron to use your car.Cucumber wrote:Several staff in our office jumped right in thinking it would make life easier for them for a couple of weeks. Huge split in our office over this. People now want to come back to office, use vans/do one of the few walkable duties, but that will mean others need to change their shifts to accommodate them.UNION JACK wrote:Too true, DO NOT USE YOUR CARS you are putting more money in bosses pockets when all they give you is a £140 after tax bonus and a few extra pennies when they are making millions off your back, you've got to be a complete moron to use your car.Cucumber wrote:Several staff in our office jumped right in thinking it would make life easier for them for a couple of weeks. Can postmen use cycles to convey to their first point of delivery?
No, cycles are not permitted for use on delivery unless by exception they are part of an approved duty structure implemented by the RMG planning team.
