OFWAT COULD BE ABOLISHED

Post by SkiSunday »

Hmmm, I'm sure OFCOM are taking notes here. :left:
These organisations are full of the same type of people who are only feathering their own nests to the detriment of 60M others in the UK. :hmmmm

The regulator had been abolished. Privitisation of all our industries has failed and the fact that privatised industries need a regulator proves the market cannot deliver services. The postal industry should be renationalised now before it's too late. OFCOM is not fit for purpose.

Ofcom is not fit for purpose. It has failed by allowing RM to miss to consistently miss its QoS targets year on year and it has turned a blind eye to the company prioritising parcels over letters every day, when they claimed they couldn't find any evidence! They have also allowed changes like the alternate 2c letter delivery before any proper agreement is finalised.

If these services worked properly in private hands then we wouldn't need regulators at all. The fact that we do and the regulators often fail shows that the system isn't really working. These companies have become too powerful and profit driven and Ofcom, Ofwat, Ofgem etc just don't act fast enough or have enough teeth to stop bad practices.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Quangos come and quangos go. The Financial Conduct Authority replaced the Financial Services Authority, aka the Fundamentally Supine Authority, after the fallout from the 2008 crash.
The machine stops.

Just a name change, Ofwats staff will remain the same.
It just looks like the Government are acting upon it.

We all know what's really not fit for purpose - the CWU. Whilst the regulators are indeed all broken, the regulation of the railway industry is useful for the workers of that industry. Regulation has maintained many jobs and allowed workers a way to defend health, safety and welfare. The control of the railway industry by workers through collectivism was carried over into the regulation of the industry. Compare that with the fate of workers in the postal industry where the CWU simply aligned itself with the industry and regulator.
