A number of staff members are self-isolating following a positive case of Covid-19, Royal Mail has confirmed
There are a number of postal delays in Plympton after a member of staff at the delivery office tested positive for coronavirus.
A spokesperson for Royal Mail has confirmed that a number of workers are self-isolating following the news of a positive case of the virus at the Plympton Delivery Office.
They added that this may result in some delays and disruption to services, and have apologised to customers who may experience this.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “The health and safety of our colleagues and our customers is our number one priority at Royal Mail. A number of colleagues are self-isolating at the Plympton Delivery Office following a positive case of COVID-19.
"We wish our colleagues a speedy recovery.
"The impact on staffing levels may result in some disruption to services and we apologise to any impacted customers in advance. We are working hard to restore normal service levels as quickly as possible.
"We remain grateful to all our customers in these areas for their patience and understanding. If anyone has any concern about their mail please contact customer services.“
It comes as infection rates in Plymouth are at their highest during the course of the entire pandemic.
Three of the four largest single day figures have been this week, with Wednesday's new daily confirmed total of 276 and with 268 recorded on Monday
Plymouth's Covid-19 rate is significantly higher than the average rate for England, currently at 50.374/100,000 - and will rise in upcoming days further as more positive cases from specimens from July 12 onwards than the equivalent day a week earlier have already been confirmed.
This means more schools are having to send pupils home to self-isolate, while some pubs and restaurants have had to temporarily close their doors or change their opening hours due to low numbers of staff.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
