Your Royal Mail deliveries may be delayed this Christmas

ROYAL Mail has warned that some customers may experience “slightly longer delivery timescales” than normal, after confirming “exceptionally high volumes” of post this winter.

The company also advised that anti-Covid measures are impacting the efficiency of its delivery service this festive season.

The acknowledgement comes as people and businesses across the UK have complained about late or missed deliveries. John Lewis, Boots and HMV are among the retailers to have blamed Royal Mail for delivery delays.

Royal Mail office manager in Wallingford speaks out on postal delays

THE manager of a Royal Mail office in Oxfordshire revealed a local depot has been 'deluged by mail' as homes in parts of the county have been left without post for weeks.

People in Wallingford and Didcot slammed Royal Mail in November after continuous postal delays, with some letters and parcels taking two weeks to be delivered.

But office manager at the Wallingford depot Pete Harris, who has worked there for 34 years, explained that the depot is currently dealing with an unprecedented amount of post.

Royal Mails says delays possible due to 'exceptionally high' demand

SHOPPERS are being warned there is a possibility of delays in receiving their parcels due to "exceptionally high" demand by Royal Mail.

The nation's postal service has said it expects most letters and parcels to arrive on time, but the double whammy of more online shopping and tight restrictions caused by Covid-19 could lead to some delays.

It said it is experiencing an "exceptionally high volume of post" but is working hard to get post delivered as fast as possible.

The postal service said: "Royal Mail is working hard to deliver the most comprehensive and high quality service we can to all our customers, large and small.

Postal delays likely despite seasonal staff

ISLANDERS are being warned to expect delays to their post after a combination of bad weather and an ‘unprecedented’ rise in items due to the pandemic placed extra pressure on delivery services.

Jersey Post has brought in an extra 40 staff to help with the busy period, including workers from the hospitality sector.

The company said that an increase in online shopping throughout the coronavirus pandemic was contributing to the ‘record numbers’ of items being processed this year.

A spokesperson for Jersey Post said: ‘Bringing in extra people is something we do every year to help with the busier period and they are helping us to get through, although we are seeing record numbers in terms of deliveries.

Part of Kent hit by Covid-19 Royal Mail delays

According to the Royal Mail website there are problems affecting the whole of the ME7 postcode area but very little information is given.

A statement online says there are "resourcing issues" in Gillingham, along with several others across the country.

Mrs Holden, 67, said: "I have checked the Royal Mail website daily and it’s the same message with only the date changing.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
