Although there are delays in some Sheffield delivery offices, words of encouragement have poured in for postmen and postwomen who still go out to work in the ongoing pandemic.
Some local householders have complained that there has been slow or no post delivery in their areas, which some saying that they haven't had any post for the past two weeks.
But many have come forward to defend the Royal Mail workers who are doing their best in these difficult times.
A postman himself, Rob Millington said working as one through the pandemic had been "a nightmare".
He said: "Parcels have gone through the roof combined with nearly half the office being off at sometime shielding, self isolating.
"No van sharing when people started to return so we were short of vans, it's been a struggle.
"Parcels take priority but doing double mail every day as well as all the parcels covering different rounds takes its toll."
Rob, who has been working as a postman for seven years, said he can understand the frustration from the public.
"Just need to bear with us until we get some sort of normality back!" he added.
A Shiregreen resident, Nikki Walker said she had no problem with the delivery up to last week, when the second lockdown hit.
"Still waiting for a birthday card posted at the beginning of last week to arrive. My birthday was a week ago. Royal Mail are doing their best," she said.
James Bradshaw agreed. He said: "Not the posties' fault. They are doing a fabulous job. A lot more people are ordering online.
"They can't get anywhere so more parcels to deliver. I'm waiting for some things for Christmas. Keep going, Royal Mail."
But there are also some who have not had their post delivered for more than a month.
Naz Naz said: "We have not had a post for six weeks on Ashberry Road, S6."
A Royal Mail spokesperson had said the delays could be due to safety measures in place.
"Despite our best endeavours, it is possible that some areas of the country may on occasion experience a temporary reduction in service levels due to coronavirus-related absences and necessary social distancing measures at their local mail centre or delivery office.
