Any plans from Royal Mail to offer this? This is now even being rolled out for small and medium size businesses. Why you should test your workforce
The expansion of workplace testing will identify more positive cases of COVID-19 and ensure those infected isolate. This will reduce the spread of the virus and protect those who cannot work from home, and our vital services.
This programme is crucial given that around 1 in 3 people who are infected with COVID-19 have no symptoms so could be spreading the disease without knowing it. Broadening testing to identify those showing no symptoms will mean finding positive cases more quickly, and break chains of transmission.
We want as many employers as possible to sign up to regularly test their employees. This will reduce the risk of transmission among those who cannot work from home and ensure vital public and economic services can continue.
It is a voluntary decision for employers to run testing programmes for their staff. Testing can provide confidence to workers and customers in the workplace, helping to protect and enable business continuity.

Re: Employers encouraged to offer tests
Wasn't our new CEO behind the test and trace app??
We must have made a pretty penny delivering thousands of these Covid testing kits and I've noticed a sharp increase this week. Im sure we will be Covid testing in the workplace soon. It wouldn't be a good advert for the company not to be seen to be actively promoting the health and safety of its staff
It can't be down to money surely?

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

They are loathe to do it because it would mean more staff would be off work, still not to worry its only our health.

Thats exactly why they wont test, it would mean there precious deliveries would have to be covered if we were sent home . Lets face it the action as a whole taken by RM has been poor, social distancing is a joke it would mean a lot of extra expense and work for the managers to enforce ,they only stopped van sharing when they were literally forced to do it otherwise you can bet they would have carried on. PPI was introduced after a lot of arm twisting by the union. And they think they are world leaders for health and safety and doing there bit by controlling the virus at work by the wearing of masks, the easiest of all the above to enforce, but still ignore the more important actions of social distancing and now the ability to test all workers. RM are a bloody embarrassmentpoisonpostie wrote: ↑07 Mar 2021, 12:55They are loathe to do it because it would mean more staff would be off work, still not to worry its only our health.

My wife works for a major supermarket they dont offer routine testing either for the staff despite them coming into contact with every tom, dick and harry when at work. Any employer with 50 or more staff can access free testing for their employees. Just as an extra piece of information, all households with school age children, or grandparents etc that look after kids can turn up at a local test site (go online to find the nearest one taking part) and just ask for rapid tests because of the child connection. Each adult should be given 7 test kits.

Re: Employers encouraged to offer tests
Royal Mail have signed up to workplace testing
My guess is once it has been utilised in the schools then (if they haven't already) they will roll it out in a few of the main Royal Mail hubs, maybe Mount Pleasant in London, and I can see it being featured in a quarterly edition of the courier to be hailed as a massive success. There will be plenty of pictures of happy, smiling posties reminding us all of how brilliant Royal Mail are in being pro-active in the fight against coronavirus.

Rapid lateral flow testing has been optional at Sheffield before last Christmas
