Nil Pay - Financial Support?

Post by jimmy1976 »

So I have basically been reduced to Nil Pay after Shielding for so long.

I am Type 1 Diabetic so I do not qualify for the Government NHS Isolation letter but my GP has provided me with a personal Shielding letter as they consider me at risk.

My office accepted this letter during the first wave of the pandemic but no longer seems to think it is valid. Even though the situation is now more severe.

I applied for financial support from Rowland Hill but they did not consider my cause great enough to warrant a payment.

So, what other options to I have?

Apart from either going back to work during these dangerous times or accruing more financial debt.....

Thanks.

Could you perhaps ask for the management to let you start later once the office is empty?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Nice idea but it's a 24 hour operation, 7 days a week.

No quiet shifts.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

If you’re not eligible or your SSP ends
You may be able to apply for Universal Credit or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). You can use form SSP1 to support your application.

If your SSP is ending your employer must send you form SSP1 either:

within 7 days of your SSP ending, if it ends unexpectedly while you’re still sick
on or before the beginning of the 23rd week, if your SSP is expected to end before your sickness does
If you do not qualify for SSP your employer must send you form SSP1 within 7 days of you going off sick.
This is taken from the gov.uk website at https://www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/eligibility

EDIT...you could also qualify for ESA......https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benef ... u-can-get/

I hope this helps
