In these uncertain times, how are people approaching delivery? one of my line managers trying to lapse me sometimes, most days with volume of parcels its hard to get own walk done, so on your own walk is their people bringing mail back if they can't complete?? not sure if the rules have changed, what are people doing? surely they cant sack us all for bringing mail back if we dont finish in time, its outwith normal circumstances, u would think u shouldnt need to go to a manager everyday in times like this to discuss the walk, should be on trust, or is the managers getting bonuses for lapsing us etc anyone know?

You have a start time and a finish time if you think you can’t get your job done tell your line manager and leave some work that’s what I do,if I then realise I could of done some more of my walk ring your line manager and let him know, always cover yourself

Management in my office have long since given up and couldn't care less what letters get delivered as long as the packets get done. We don't even need to let them know if we'll be leaving letters, they just told us to "do what you can" and leave the decision to us. I think they realise that letting us just get on with it will produce better results than them trying to harass us, which doesn't work in our office as we usually stick together. If you want to claim extended and clear everything then there's no problem and likewise if you don't want to work over then it's also no problem.

We get told in no uncertain terms, CONCENTRATE ON THE PARCELS!!, whereas the mail can be left in as that's not a priority. I have done this several times on recent occasions as long as we tell the line manager before we leave the office.

i dont think in my office they are to keen on paying overtime for extended delivery i dont know if thats to do with if theirs still an overtime ban or not, one line manager is ok, one trys it on to get u to lapse even tho its staring him in the face 200 parcels above the frame never mind a york of two or oversize, just weird how some are just ok and others nasty as always, yeah some managers are more approachable than others, just would expect a bit of come and go

Good reason for that, by not being as approachable as others, staff are less likely to offload their problems onto them and go to another manager instead giving them an easier life. Plus, if there is any comebacks about mail failures etc. they can wash their hands of it. It's not right, but like everything else in this company, always keep yourself covered regardless.

You can 'train' a manager to manage in the same way you can train a dog to play dead but neither of them really understand the concept behind what they're doing, they're just doing it for treats.

Clearing every day in our office. Few going over but that's due to be being absolutely useless at the job as proven when semi efficient covers complete in plenty of time.
Still have colleagues finishing pre 12 o'clock on the easy rounds

Let me get this right. If they go over they are absolutely useless and if they finish early ,they are on easy rounds. A no win situation in your eyes.

Maybe what you meant to say, instead of being useless was coming in on their times, taking breaks, doing vehicle checks, using trolley etc etc. In other words doing the job properly going over :arrrghhh
