Do you want Royal Mail to go bust?

Do you want the tax payer paying 162,000 staff 80% of their wages?

Do you want to ruin millions of businesses? those who sell online, those who work in the financial industry, etc etc....

Do you not want Mildred to get her medicine?

Do you not want 6 year old James to get his birthday presents?

Do you not want to be able to order anything online?

Do you not want important government letters to go out to the vulnerable?

There's massive hold-ups with the post as it is, yet you suggest even more staff should be not working?

I think the correct answer is ,they don’t use it because the union jumped in and labelled us key workers
Now there are people on no wage because they are worried about bringing this deadly virus home to others
The union scored a political win ,at our expense
Obviously it’s been totally exploited and was always going to happen
Instead of mildreds medicine and other essentials
All the crap of the day is being pushed ,at a very serious risk to staff
A Skelton of staff ,volunteers who aren’t concerned about themselves and others ,could of got paid extra to deliver ‘ the essentials ‘
It’s a very sad day for Cwu and the business the way this had been handled like some political point scoring games from the safety of their homes

Was that the same Union that designated all the other delivery companies as key-workers?
I'm not sure why they couldn't use furlough for those in the specific groups mentioned.

I know of other industries where "key workers" are placed on furlough (in fact, some "key worker" employers are actively encouraging their staff to go on furlough).

There is no reason that I am aware of why RM aren't furloughing appropriate staff (us being key workers does not exempt us from potential furlough).

The vast majority of the workfoce would not want to be put on furlough, but i believe RM should offer it to the people who need it. How many people are off sick at the moment or who have taken unpaid leave to protect themselves or a family member.

It does not require the whole of RM to be shut down

I could see it working if it was available as an option for anyone - takers would get 80% of their pay covered, RM could save by opting not to pay the extra 20% and plenty of staff would seize the opportunity to make Christmas-level overtime in Spring / Summer weather.

Can you really see that working A2B? :hmmmm

Postie A
carries on working (with all the previously meantioned risks)...... Postie B is sat at home on 80% Furlough Pay  ..... I think this company has enough Divisions within it already, without making another one. Could you imagine the feelings of animosity within the DO. :hmmmm

At least as my Old mate Dave Cameron used to say, "We're all in it together"! :cuppa
