Passenger and driver separation idea

Post by philsdeals19 »

Hi all

I know a taxi driver who has just done a conversation between front and rear seats to separate him from his customers. This made me think about a Perspex see through divider between driver and passenger in the van may be a good idea and not very expensive or time consuming to do. In the long run it will save RM money and us all the inconvenience of not being able to share a van. I noticed Tesco have put screens up at their tills. This could be the same thing just cut to size to fit the vans temporary.

And you're in a crash and decapitated by flying perspex and air bags.

Designed and correctly mounted.

With all the different types of CDV in the business, you're unlikely to get them all tested, mounted and secured properly in any meaningful time period.

Also, why go to the trouble of mounting a barrier when it's far cheaper and probably far safer to just limit the number of people inside the vehicle.

Are you going to mould it to form a perfect seal specific to every single van and eliminate the movement of air from one part of the van to the other? It's a bit of a waste of time otherwise in such a small confined space.

It would be simpler, cheaper and easier to implement the use of face masks when in close confined areas/less than 2m from others. (This is when masks are of most use). But as there's a national shortage of them, and priority needed for the NHS, we need to have single van use only.
As TBT says, you would be looking at months to get these fitted...

Not barmy by any means, just a little impracticable.

Anyone think that the 2 metre thing is in part 'could' be going too far when say the 2 peeps in the car/van wherever are not coughing and sneezing all, over the place.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No.
Coughing and sneezing are only symptoms in some cases.
Some people are infectious without symptoms.
In the cruise ships may people caught the virus without being coughed or sneezed on, they caught the virus because all cruise ships have an integrated HVAC system.

Basically they breathed the same recycled air., like what you do in a van.

Have you seen the WHO guidance? They recommend 1m. I personally feel 2m is a better distance. By being in a confined space like a van, it's arguable that even breathing could spread the virus from an infected person, even with the windows down.
From what I've read though, it does seem to propagate more with talking, coughing or sneezing...
