Maybe a good time for the union to be just a tad more vocal in relation to the current cv19 crisis?or is it just me?

I agree. Thinking last night the cwu or 'we' should be telling royal mail what to do. working in my virus hole mc at the moment is shocking. Many rm staff can have 'were doing what we can" written on their headstones and their familys over the coming months. Hope im wrong.

Just what are we paying our subs for . The cwu are supposed to have our best interests at heart . Seems like they haven't tho . Rm are breaking the law . We should all do our own risk assessment and walk out

They’ve handled this very badly.

Cancelled meetings - just give Rico and co an ultimatum; guidelines adhered to or we all walk, stop fannying about with excuses and delays.

Putting us forward as the 4th emergency services when not one of us was asked.

No clarification of where we stand if we don’t think it’s safe.

Plus maybe I’m imaging it but I’m sure the CWU Facebook page recently shared that image of a post box being emptied in WW2 amidst all the destroyed buildings - a photo which was a setup. What on earth are they trying to say?
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

RM have a duty of care. They are not caring...
CWU need to remind them of their responsibilities and if they can't adhere to them (in any legal format) then we ought to stay at home as per govt guidelines.
TBH, the only people out and about now should be NHS workers and they should be given pay rises immediately. If everyone else just stayed at home the Covid numbers would decrease quicker.

i work on a chalk and cheese duty, half look like they've had the virus for years anyway and the other half look scared but appreciate our efforts
i chat with the cheese half and i don't think they believe the current conditions we are working under re indoor work, nothing changed today, management totally clueless and asking for our input, can't blame them for lack of ideas as they are void of anything logical in the good times anyway, all they are bothered about is complete duties going out to report less failures, surely they can't be scared of reporting failed duties at a time like this?
i could guarantee if not 1 manager/line manager turned in tomorrow in our d/o we we sort it out better, but still no hand cleaner!
i feel let down by the management and union right now, and it's feck all to do with job losses or lost subs about the pending IA
i kid you not it will take the death of a postie to make either sit up and act instantly

As a staunch trade unionist it pains me to say that the CWU have been atrocious in their response to this crisis, incredibly slow to respond when the members were looking for leadership none was there, it's been left to individuals to argue the case for for safe working, there's been no risk assessments done, offices are still overcrowded, vans are still filthy and even the cleaners the ones who empty our bins full of snotty tissues, coffee cups and half eaten bits of food don't have protective gloves or masks.

If one thing comes out of this it's that the current structure of the union is unfit for purpose and the power needs to go back to the unit reps and the staff on the floor, they should be supporting us and they've failed to step up, when this is all over it's time for change.

Opportunists, I’m afraid. They barrelled in with the ludicrous “fourth emergency service” s**t as an olive branch to Rico without taking into consideration the health or safety of their members. In the event I survive this pandemic, I’m inclined to resign my membership if the leadership fails to do the right thing and stand down.
