I agree, that they were wrong to do so. However it raises the point that what we are now doing is on the non essential side of being 'key workers'?

We were offered up (without consultation) to help out, in a way to show we were an essential service. Now we aren't needed or wanted for that role, it kind of makes you wonder what our exact role is.

It's not just delivering shopping and medicines though. They're needed for patient transport and a telephone befriending service also.

What about your gas cards/keys, credit/debit cards, personal letters for people in hospitals/nursing homes/prisons, birthday cards etc. I would consider that essential mail. Essential for survival, health and wellbeing.

And parcels? Well who are we to judge whatever is in them is essential or not. People need things other than food and medicine when forced to stay at home for prolonged periods, even if for their mental health. And you can't get everything you want from just Amazon and Tesco.

We can't all be confined in our homes in a state of fear. We have to try and live as normally as we can given the situation. Some people may not want to, or can't, absorb themselves in media, whether TV or internet.

So have a think the next time you see a parcel. It may look like s**t to you, but it could really make someone's day; or life even.

Industrial action had been on the horizon, management are incompetent, and staff moral is extremely low. The lack of care and incompetence at my mail centre is astounding. I shudder at the the thought of vital supplies going through it.

The government probably couldn’t trust the company to not screw it up and cause excessive, unnecessary fatalities.
