Nice to have such supportive bosses during this difficult time
I woke up the other morning feeling absolutely brutal. I felt so lethargic I was sitting down in the shower. Got ready for work and was lying on the couch debating on whether to phone in when my wife came through and took my temperature. I had a high temperature. I phoned my boss and he outright says he doesn't believe me. The leading health authority in the country says we have to take 7 days off and he's acting like that. We all know they don't give a toss about us but I would have thought during a global pandemic he might be a bit more understanding. Guess I was wrong. All they care about is the mail getting out the door. Now i'm sat at home feeling awful and have to worry about being bullied by my manager as well.

We should start a thread on all managers and higher ups who lack the talent to get work from their employees without resorting to bullying. After this all blows over we will remember them and take action. No names for now. You know the names for when the time is right. just say when it happens to you and we will build a collective case. If they think they can get away with this s**t when the world is on its knees they are the lowest of the low.

Covid-19 is not a type of flu. It is a type of Coronavirus such as the common cold which has never been deadly enough to be worthy of any sustained research. SARS amd MERS presumably fizzled our before they completed vaccination trials. So this is an new deadly virus which spreads at a ridiculous rate, for which we have no medicine or research.
I currently believe Me and my wife have it, who knows about my kids, and it’s the scariest illness I’ve ever had and I reckon mine is ‘mild’.
So this attitude of its just flu is scary and dangerous. Italy have now had to shut down production aswell to try bring the deaths down. I also assume they’ve got the seasonal flu deaths on top of this number to deal with too.
WAKE UP

Just be careful with this its 7 days from when you start showing symptoms. But 14 days if you live with someone with symptoms. That's because the virus has a 14 day incubation period. And if you start showing symptoms during that 14 days then you start your 7 days isolation and if you fine after that 14 days you try to get back to normality (what ever that is at the mo)Sprattacus wrote:The government guideline is actually 14 days now and you can call up saying 'as per government recommendation'. I wouldn't worry about doing it, 50% of offices I predict will be off sick as of next week (we're already at around 25%!)2cups wrote:I woke up the other morning feeling absolutely brutal. if you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus illness (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started. (The ending isolationsection below has more information)if you live with others and you are the first in the household to have symptoms of coronavirus, then you must stay at home for 7 days, but all other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill. See the explanatory diagramfor anyone else in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14 day isolation period. The ending isolation section below has more information, and see the explanatory diagram

How long to stay at home
If you have symptoms
If you have symptoms of coronavirus, you'll need to stay at home for 7 days.
After 7 days:
if you do not have a high temperature, you do not need to stay at home
if you still have a high temperature, stay at home until your temperature returns to normal
You do not need to stay at home if you just have a cough after 7 days. A cough can last for several weeks after the infection has gone.
If you live with someone who has symptoms
If you live with someone who has symptoms, you'll need to stay at home for 14 days from the day their symptoms started. This is because it can take 14 days for symptoms to appear.
If more than 1 person at home has symptoms, stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person started having symptoms.
If you get symptoms, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms start, even if it means you're at home for longer than 14 days.
If you do not get symptoms, you can stop staying at home after 14 days.

No it doesn't.And flu actually kills many many more worldwide than cv19 has. Just something to bear in mind.
The 'flu' HAS killed many more people than COVid-19 but that's because it's been around a hell of a lot longer and is already endemic in the population.
It's a ridiculous comparison so doesn't warrant 'bearing in mind' at all.
Comparing transmission and mortality rates for the two illnesses and assuming they don't change and it becomes endemic (things we don't know yet) the deaths from COVid-19 could outstrip Influenza by a factor of at least 5 to 1 within a couple of years.
That is worth 'bearing in mind'.

And the 5 to 1 ratio is assuming we have a functioning health service with the capacity to treat a disease this severe.Woody Guthrie wrote:No it doesn't.And flu actually kills many many more worldwide than cv19 has. Just something to bear in mind.

There is huge misunderstanding what kills more and how. More people die BECAUSE of flue (in most cases flu is just a contributing factor)- what actually causes death are their underlying problems. But people actually die FROM Coronavirus- this disease is what actually causes death, not heart condition or whatever they might have. In Covid-19 case, underlaying health conditions ARE just a contributing factor. Can you see the difference?Woody Guthrie wrote:No it doesn't.And flu actually kills many many more worldwide than cv19 has. Just something to bear in mind.

No the general population can't seem to see the difference....cos "Karen" on Facebook said its just like the flu so she must be right.scarface wrote:There is huge misunderstanding what kills more and how. Simply disregard the horror stories coming out of Italy and head to the seaside for a nice sunny mother's day ffs.
These morons need to be confined to their houses in a proper lock down to give the NHS a fighting chance of coping.
If such a large number of cockwombles keep on marching as though it's just the flu it's going to bring the NHS to a standstill when it spikes.
I can't believe how ignorance is so wide spread about this.
