They don't care about posties and their family

Post by weara »

I am really disappointed of the royal mail behaviour and from our union as well because they just don't care about us now with the virus spreading everywhere.
In my office we just get some disposable gloves which we have to go to the manager office to take...
They don't supply us with masks, antiseptic wipes or something to protect our self .
The only thing they did is to not let the customer to sign on our PDA!!!
The union should demand from royal mail to protect us instead they only care to finish and clear our walks.
They should not allowed none to go outside to deliver without the proper equipment.
I believe that now the royal mail see an opportunity to make more money because the people who have been isolated in their houses are ordering so many things so now it is busy as it was on Christmas time.

Spot on. They don't give a flying you know what. I'm type 1, insulin dependent, Diabetic yet have not been approached by management or union reps. After the PM saying people with underlying conditions who require annual flu jabs on Monday, the silence is deafening. We're still having huddles in the middle of D/O. If you mentioned it on twitter the public would go beserk like they have with Wilkos and their shoddy treatment of staff

This is a good point.

If RM don't start looking after us, we should blow the whistle on the f*****s to the media.

We want to serve the public, but the company only care about their bottom line, and people will die as a result.

Someone should, no time to mess around now and perhaps the only way we can force managements hand to implement safe working practices.

Peejay, I'm not sure about who's vulnerable etc but if you have diabetes get yourself into self isolation mate. Do not wait for them. Fone them tell them you will see them when they are better dressed and that's it. It's your life, it's their bonus.

Here's the perfect opportunity to let the media know what a disgrace RM management has been so far in keeping us safe.

The Guardian are looking for "key workers" to let them know their experiences so far...

A simple online questionnaire via the link below.

I let them know my thoughts (and sheer disgust at the mismanagement ) yesterday....

Let's do it en masse

It's a shame we haven't got an employee organisation, like a union, to represent us !!

ROYAL MAIL HAVE LET US ALL DOWN. FAILED US.

What they should do...

Suspend as much indoor work as possible by

1. suspending D2D's
2. suspending all manual sorting
3. have separate parcel deliveries
4. parcels should be sorted by 2 to 3 people (if that means employing temp staff just for sorting parcels then so be it)
5. suspend van sharing
these are common sense things and they should be implemented immediately

i know that royal mail may see these options has financial suicide, but it could be a matter of life and death for the workforce and their families.

Not workable, in most MCs apart from mech mail everything is sorted manually

Come on everyone lets do all we can to put a boot up the backside of RM, Rico, our DOMS and line managers, we cant just keep going as things are in our workplaces, we need to be proactive to make sure we get a much more safe and clean working environment, and work procedures that will allow for as much distancing as is possible in this job.

Dont look back with regret in a couple of weeks time.

You really need to think bigger mate, judging by your posts you dont seem to understand the position we are all in facing this virus.

Sorting machines don't grow on trees. RM has do to a fair bit of planning when installing a machine which takes time, then there's the time taken for installing and comisioning any new machine. You've then got to train the operators and engineers. For all that you'd be looking probably at a minimum of 6 months. Suspending of all manual sorting aint going to happen :cuppa
