Hi guys, looking for some guidance. My 9yr old son was sent home from school today for having a headache and sore throat and was told to get a PCR test and only allowed back to school if the test is negative. My wife was told to take all of our kids out from school and for them to self isolate until the PCR returned a negative. School has also instructed all members of the house to isolate until a negative PCR.
I spoke to my DOM at work after my shift about the situation. He told me, that I still need to come to work, order myself a PCR test and only to go into self isolation if either of the tests come back positive. My wife thinks the DOM is talking pure sh*te. We are in Scotland, so we may have slightly different rules to the rest of the UK. I've had both of the jags.
Can someone advise please.

Royal Mail Communications : A summary of the rules for self-isolation as of now...
Scotland:
The requirement to self-isolate as a close contact of a positive case has changed for fully vaccinated individuals, as long as you remain asymptomatic.
You do not need to self-isolate as a close contact if you meet all of the following criteria:
You are fully vaccinated (two vaccinations) and 14 days have passed since your second dose of vaccination.
You have had a negative PCR test since being advised to isolate as a close contact. You must remain in self-isolation while awaiting the result of the PCR test.
You do not develop Covid-19 symptoms. If symptoms develop at any stage, you must self-isolate immediately and book a PCR test, in line with existing arrangements.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Sounds like your DOM is mistakenly trying to apply the England rules - according to NHS Scotland, "If you live with someone who has symptoms but who has not yet been tested, you must self-isolate."
