Your choice
Just had a team brief saying as from the 19th July everything goes back to normal van share etc.My understanding is the government has given us the job as individuals to decide what is safe not to have another dictatorship telling us what is safe.

Re: Your choice
I haven’t seen an official statement from the CWU but guess it will be announced soon.
Hopefully CWU and Royal Mail will see sense and carry on suspending van sharing until cases start to fall.
Yes, we know the vaccine has broken the virus and hospitalisation link but it does not excuse employers from protecting their workforce.
If what you say is correct then sadly the Union has failed us and Royal Mail should be ashamed.
We know it’s all about the money.

Re: Your choice
This union always fails us. Dave ward hid in a bunker for over a year whilst the pandemic raged and had the nerve to offer us posties up as key workers. Now he’s double vaccinated he was on video dancing at the England game the other day having the time of his life. He’s an overpaid shameless w****r in my eyes and Pullinger is his gullible little lap dog. We are on our own now guys.iHateD2Ds wrote: ↑11 Jul 2021, 08:33I haven’t seen an official statement from the CWU but guess it will be announced soon.

Re: Your choice
Or more likely it will go back to normal and we, as individuals, won’t have any choice but to accept it even if we believe it’s unsafe.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑11 Jul 2021, 15:46So it doesnt go back to normal then if individuals decide its not safe

Re: Your choice
I think the government minister was implying that it was up to the individual to judge what risk they take ,ie going to a concert ,supermarket ,using public transport ,wearing a mask etc
If Royal Mail say’s we are going back to shared vans then what choice do we have?
All they will say we are following Government Guidelines and now that you a vaccinated what’s the problem?
Well the problem is:
Not all people are vaccinated
Not all people believe that the Vaccine will save them
Some people are reckless and don’t give a xxxx
Others have anxiety.

Re: Your choice
We had a brief on Friday about van sharing returning on the 19th July, a few people asked if it was going to be there choice to go back to van sharing and were told it’s not up for discussion. The union chap said if anyone in the office was against van sharing they could start at 2 and finish at 7.30 and that way they wouldn’t be van sharing and still be on the same dutie, remember this was the union chap who said this and not management.

Post removed as Anti Vax and Covid Denial -
If people continue to disobey the rules and put this board and members jobs at risk we will have to consider banning them.

To make it clear as we have started getting a few Anti-Vax and Covid Denial posts on here, this is a forum for discussing postal matters, not a Covid Conspiracy Forum.
After what has happened on a few forums I visit I won't run the risk of that taking over the reason why RoyalMailChat exists (to help people). So to make it abundantly clear.
No Anti-Vax posts.
No Covid Denial Posts.
Any that fall under these subjects, from either side of the debates, will be deleted, and the poster warned if they use derogatory terms
There are plenty of forums around on both subjects where you can post and discuss to your heart's content, this is not a Free Speech issue, as I am not stopping you posting elsewhere. It's just not an appropriate subject for this board.
TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑02 May 2021, 17:45I am removing all the Covid Conspiracy Posts for the reasons stated.
There are plenty of Covid Denial, Covid Conspiracy, Anti Masker's forums which both sides can join and post on.
But here where it is monitored by our employer, any post on either side, can help identify the poster, it's not safe to allow it. You may disagree and you can discuss that if you want. But not whether the virus is real, or any associated subject.
WE ARE NOT A COVID FORUM and I am not going to let people threaten the survival of this board or take subjects off-topic. If you can't accept that then sorry, but that's how it is.

Re: Your choice
Also remember that between 1% and 5%, maybe more, of infections result in long covid, which may result in being unable to work and live a normal life for potentially many years.
How can the union possibly agree to place their members at this sort of risk?

Re: Your choice
Nothing is ever 100% "safe" everything has a risk attached to it. I guess the CWU have decided that the risk is now minimal enough to make the decision they have made.
If you disagree with the recommendation, you don't have to follow it. However, even that decision would have its own risks, perhaps part of making reasonable adjustments because of your decision to not follow the recommendations could mean changing your duty, hours or location. But thats risk you have to assess along with everyone else, including me.

Re: Your choice
I think the figures of long Covid are 10 -15 % of which 360,000 people are still suffering with Long Covid after a year.
People really should bare this in mind.
The workplace is a risk and with the rate of infection management should be enforcing mask wearing not relaxing.
Van sharing should be also postponed.

Re: Your choice
The country is trying to return to normal from the 19th July and we at Royal Mail need to do the same , most of these complaints are more about not liking van share rather than the safety aspect.
