By standing 2-3 metres apart and sorting until it's done?

If not done, then it's no issue in my view, we will be working very likely to a 'take what is there and go' at a certain point each day.
with half the staff going out after 2?

How far are you from your office ? Fwiw it's kinda your responsibility to get to your workp
Are you serious? It’s my responsibility to get to my workplace in a lockdown with no public transportation? Have you actually thought this through? Tell you what. You give me a lift to work. I don’t mind coughing while your driving.
Uhh it's not my personal opinion on what you should do, my point was based on knowing this RM management - they are open for business, they expect you to attend unless you're sick. Don't shoot the messenger!

If they're gonna send people out for 7hrs the union needs to make everyone aware of their rights regarding meal breaks and toilet breaks.

We got a request today, for anybody (mostly Part Timers) to let their manager know if they want to work a later shift...2pm-8pm. I don't think there was a mass rush to sign up.

Anyone who doesn't feel safe to go in I urge you to contact your local press and national media. Contact your MPs and self certify. If things don't get better over the next week in terms of the pandemic and our H&S, your GP will be understanding about the stress of the situation. Do not count on Royal Mail to do the right thing, take it into your own hands.

Why can’t we just hire a load of vans like we do at Christmas I’m sure we would get a good deal in the current climate plus there will be loads of hire vans sat idle at the moment

We should definetly hire some extra but wont solve the problem absolutely as they are no use for the people who cant drive
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Non drivers can do walks near office with hct,get half the office in say 5 until 11 sorting walks and ips then get guys in say 11-5 delivering 1 walk in van plus parcels for other deliveries , then next day do walks which weren’t done previous day,They also need to stop d2ds and limit letters coming through by holding or stop the crap letters as they are not necessary at the moment, they are not doing enough to support staff unlike supermarkets are, they are quite frankly a disgrace and I feel like we are being let down big time by them

Exactly.
I would imagine you could in the current climate get the government to shell out for them or at least offset the costs against tax.
That's the obvious solution.

I believe hiring extra vans is a must in the current situation. Non driving colleagues are minority anyway in most offices. They can cover hct walks and the rest of staff should go out in a van.

Variable starting time also should be in place to reduce number of people at one time in the office. Its going to cost extra money and efficiency certainly dropping a little but most companies are making a loss and Royal Mail should be able to at least break even as their revenue doesn't necessarily dropped.

I have been on holiday since Friday, and it sounds like a real s**t show out there now. It was clearly not safe to work in the delivery offices, so one thing you could do is half the number of duties with one set starting in the morning out for delivery between 9.00 and 10.00 am and the other set out for delivery at around 11.00 am. Those out on delivery then get drivers to drop mail in boxes (if there are any left on the duties) or meet with non drivers after bags have been delivered. But non drivers will have to drive their own car to the start point with first bag or wait for driver to drop their bag to them, then walk back to their car after they finish and drive back to office. Anyway, this will add a lot of time to a round and is not very efficient. If we had kept the bikes in the office this would be much easier. I'm guessing the managers 'contingency' plan will be the worst option anyone could ever come up with and I guarantee it will involve lapsing.
