Anyone else terrified now ?
Another article in which I find myself nodding along in agreement with Jeremy Hunt, depressingly.

Sars and Mers were but a precursor to Covid-19. Look at the bigger picture...Woody Guthrie wrote:It's an opinion.ssdd wrote:I wouldn't hedge my bets on that one article...
It's the opinion of David Nabarro, professor of global health at Imperial College, London, and an envoy for the World Health Organisation on Covid-19.
It ranks above my opinion, probably yours too but there are tons of scientific documents out there that emphasise the difficulties in making a safe and successful vaccine for a Coronavirus. You do know there still isn't one for Sars or Mers or any other coronavirus for that matter?
And by the way, I'm not impressed by titles or ranks. Some things 'rank' above them...

There seems to be many unknowns about the virus atm:
* They're not sure of catching it gives people immunity and if it does how long it gives them immunity for
* I've not seen any mention of if any immunity for 1 strain gives someone immunity for the other 2 (saw on the news the other day a mention that there might be a 4th strain emerging)
* There's been mentions of many "potential symptoms", do they know which are actual symptoms and which are just caused by things other that coronavirus?
There's bound to be other things that they're not sure about yet

I encourage everyone to keep viewing as many viable sources (experts) as possible and ignore the rest of the noise.
https://youtu.be/QwoNP9QWr4Y" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This professor from South Korea is one of many great speakers. Worth a watch.
South Korea is probably the best example worldwide of a country understanding the issues and getting things under control.

We actually have no idea who he is or what his qualifications actually are.
Ignore and stick to the NHS, WHO, Public Health England etc etc.

I respect all those institutions but we're also very slow at updating the public.
EG- Masks have been adopted across the world, and surprise surprise, we'll soon be getting them enforced, situationally.

We were notified yesterday that a colleague "has deceased". "Please gather around stop what you are doing, I have a sad announcement to make" - not confirmed it was the virus, but, off work since Tuesday.
The numbers of dead in this country are an underestimate. Up until now deaths in care homes haven't been reported. And how many people are dying at suddenly at home?
Sorry for the morbid post but I'm absolutely disgusted, angry and yes, worried about where we are going with this.
Surely the colleagues family and Royal Mail will have an idea if the death was covid19 related or not? And as sad as the news might be why are Royal Mail asking colleagues to gather round during a pandemic??
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I'm getting there now...
Before it wasn't so bad. Parents in lockdown. Neices and my children all safe but now my wife's work are insisting on a rota change to suit them and it overlaps with my collection hours.
We're in a position now of having to find childcare which frankly scares me because I have no idea what contact those people (if we find any) have had.
At least at home I know the kids are safe.
My managers are completely unmoving regarding shifting my hours and at any rate my wife's rotas are shift work so it would probably never work anyway.
Both lucky to still be working but these companies are ruthless. In the past I've had group therapy for anxiety due to the graphic death of a colleague in a past career. I was supposed to get one to one therapy sessions but that has all been cancelled.
The only thing keeping it at bay was knowing the kids were safe at home. The daily numbers and information on the disease are wildly sporadic so I'm certainly worried them catching it from childcare.
I'm pretty fearful and filled with anxiety again but I'm not the only one during these times so onward we trudge. It'll get sorted.

If the anxiety becomes overwhelming, speak with your doctor (over the phone!) and see if you can get signed off for a while. As long as you have sick pay remaining, this isn’t worth jeopardising your long-term mental health for, whatever the “go to work at all costs” militia would have you believe.GoingPostal86 wrote:I'm getting there now...

One of the most beautifully authentic things you will ever hear. A profoundly inspiring and uplifting tune composed by a gifted, and kind-hearted young lady. So far, 6.5 million views have seen this clip on TikTok, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, and they've all had their hearts touched by this sweet harmony in these troubling times.

If you're terrified sit back and spark up.
