Often depends on the age of a DOs Fleet SP. Our's are fairly new, and TBH not that bad. However they still fill up with Elastic Bands, Labels all the cards & stickers we carry (it's a bloody mobile Post Office in some vans) .... plus the daily ration of crisp packets & pop bottles etc. Due to being chased for every minute of the day most Posties just don't bother taking that 10 minutes a day to keep on top of everything, we used to get paid for it years ago I believe, but it was one of those benefits we signed away.
It was just that some of the more intelligent members realised there'd probably be a Claw Back on any time made up on Saturday, if they finished before their Official Time. You try and tell people .... but they just love running around and finishing early. I'm looking forward to Monday Morning when they arrive to find Half the DO has all it's Households & Mech thrown off ready .... and they've got about an hour and a half works to do to catch up.... Because that's the way they view working SP ... It's all a race to see who can get out of the door first (and obviously get back first) ... Dickheads!

Yes you’re right we used to get 1 hour a week written in duty to wash and clean vans but the flyers would just go home early so that was lost ,we used to get driving allowance,Saturday premium,paid per item for d2d

Some are absolute middens, filthy, with bits of food lying on the floor, empty cans and bottles stuffed behind the seats, crisp bags and chocolate wrappers filling the central console, some people are absolutely filthy.

I drove one borrowed from another office a few years back and there was some kind of fungus/mould growing on the dash.
A bit of a shambles, expected that though. The town deliveries start 30 mins before the rurals. The town people had to do all the packet sorting and scanning whilst the rurals sat on their frames and did nothing. Except for when they were barging you out of the way to empty their drop bags. Busy, busy day with the van rammed full of packets and lucky enough to end up with 52 specials - thanks to Amazon.
Finished bang on time so can't complain too much. It's just the unfair split of the sorting that annoys me. Mind you it annoys me all year round, I think the whole Covid thing is making it worse as it's really showed the selfish side to a lot of people that I work with.
While today some duties were able to deal with the letters backlog from the operational change that kicked in on Saturday, clearing them as well as today's parcels, some duties required the postie to put on their Santa Claus outfit... Parcels through the roof again, told to prioritise parcels over the letter backlog, filling up HCT more than once to clear the parcels and only having time to do a small amount of letters.
So some duties now have a major letters backlog and we've not had the fun of the moved Bank Hol yet, this coming Saturday and going forward through next week is going to mean a number of duty failures!
RM need to get their heads out of the sand, moving the current OPGs attendance patterns is not going to solve the workload "crisis," they simply need to accept that more people need to be employed to meet the workload... Just like how the supermarkets have had to take on more staff to try and meet the lockdown demand.
Everybody had at least 1-2 hours overtime today, and we also failed a lot of stuff from the Saturday hangover (everybody went home 2-3 hours early on sat).
Royal mail have created a huge problem in our office, when there wasn't one before.
It's the stupidest decision I've ever witnessed a business making. I've been with RM for 6 years. Does anybody have any other examples that can beat this top tier level of idiocy?

Everyone just worked their time up here, was no problem clearing before but their is a a backlog now. Would think the offices that were struggling are even more backed up now as well. Madness

When they spent millions changing the brand name Royal mail to Consignia and then spent more dosh changing it back again. Some prize Donkey's !!

How much did they spend on "World Class Mail", and wft happened to it?
We had a full time WCM bloke in our office for a year or so, used to stick a poster or chart on the wall every so often not much else, probably paid a fortune.
We had no more mech letters today than we would have had usually for a Monday... so did we get Saturday's work today and what should have been today's work is still in the system?
