I feel sorry for all the reserve guys. First of all they will be even more confusion as to what they will be doing and ultimately they get redundant as most of them have least seniority so before they may consider them for redundancy they gonna be thrown all the s**t at. As senior guys will pick be or be allocated cushty duties.

wouldnt be so sure, in the long term its cheaper to get rid of all the full time as they cost the company more, plus your average reserve knows ten times more walks and is more flexible in how they work, all things the company are after.

Having read the document they seem to be counting on people to continue to use their cars to get to their delivery,the union should just say take back their agreement on people doing this.

Parcel delivery is just Saturday,I'm talking about people going out in their cars to meet the van on Monday to Friday to collect their first bag of mail.

Royal Mail don't consult the CWU. The company have been planning this for the last few weeks. It's all to do with saving money. We might get more time on a Monday to prep and deliver but these plans means we will be delivering more D2Ds per day- 5 days instead of 6.

There wont be any extra resource in the week either i have no idea where that idea has come from as we will be working the same hours with no ot allowed on a sat/mon.

Half the staff in but out of them a quarter( depending on office size) will be needed to prep in D2DS?

This is going to be a massive fail.

Will be interesting to see if management are still going home by 11.30 on a Saturday. If so, will those indoor staff prepping D2Ds

1. Play candy crush on their phones for the rest of their shift
2. Sit in the canteen/smoking shelter
3. Leave early
4. Or will they prep all the D2Ds as paid to do.

Not to create an indoor vs outdoor staff battle but I’ll be surprised if come Monday morning all D2Ds have been prepped into the frames.

So you think that a company that's just introduced a massive change by executive action ignoring a two year old agreement and changed duty patterns also by executive action ignoring a 10 year old agreement would be interested in honouring a 20 year old agreement?

Exactly. I’ve touched on this a few times already.

Would someone FT on here who’ve been with the business a while mind digging out their contract and tell me does it include the following which are in contracts given out to new PT starters:

Hours are anytime between 7am and 7pm
Required to work bank holidays if ordered to by the business

If RM make job cuts, and I really hope they don’t, they’ll be targeting those nearing the end of their career on FT contracts.

Not those on 25 hour contracts, who get pro rate bonuses, who are currently ordered to work 1pm till 6pm, who are expected to do a multitude of rounds with complete flexibility - I’ve been here nearly 2 rounds and know almost 40 rounds. I hope not a single employee loses their job btw.

I’ve said elsewhere that I’m confident there won’t be compulsory redundancies. RM just won’t replace people who leave and will put an end to early finishes once and for all. Full time will work every last second of their contract, part time will no longer be able to rely on the overtime that has been part and parcel of the job, other than at Christmas and when they’re begged to pick it up again at times of high absence in cut to the bone offices. That will have the knock-on effect of some part time staff leaving (again, not to be replaced) because the basic 20-25 hours isn’t enough for them to get by on.
