This is how We used to do it with bikes years ago.Bags were dropped off for us at post offices and pouch boxes.Just replenish as You go round the delivery.Admittedly there were less big parcels then tho.2yearpostie wrote:Easiest option is to leave a few bags of mail at a post office near to where a local postie lives ( maybe drop a trolley off to and keep it there for the duration?) and get them to just deliver letters locally, then arrange with the van driver to pick the pda up from the post office at x o clock.

Can staff use cars to drive to start points so they don’t need to share a van?
Yes, provided they follow the policy as sent to managers, and have business insurance for their vehicle.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

That would only work if your DO has a high enough % of drivers.mags999 wrote:arseholes just puts more stress on the van driver split shifts would work better

There's no obligation to do this. It's been recognised as a temporary measure that may help some people. It provides another option to help cope with these "unprecedented times".

And once this is all over they decide it's a good idea and TUPE everyone over to walk ownership contracts and you have to supply your own transportationssdd wrote:There's no obligation to do this. How do you think they could stop it?yellowbelly wrote:Can't believe the CWU let this happen................
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

They probably couldn't but you'd expect the average OPG to have enough between their ears to realise that goodwill only goes one way, once this is over they'll start executive action at a faster rate than before and using your own transport is just showing them the future of deliveries.clashcityrocker wrote:How do you think they could stop it?yellowbelly wrote:Can't believe the CWU let this happen................

Right in our office the driver preps both walks, the passenger walks from his home to local bus stop where he catches the bus to the start of the walk all in duty time and catches the bus at the end of the duty, No lapsing, leaving loops in the office if you feel you can't complete, remember 2 things don't change, your start time and your finishing time, let the managers manage, at the moment there all nicey nicey, when this over they'll return to being the b--tards they usually are, as for cancelling your holidays and taking them later to help them out don't fall for that rubbish you can't even get your holidays you want now, Just do your job in the safest way you can and don't accept the bullshit the managers come out with, all there interested in as always is clearing the office and that fat bonus they'll all get off your back, STAY SAFE.

Am I right that you have to amend your car insurance policy to include Business Travel to be insured to take your car out during work time...and that this only includes Third Party, Fire & Theft? If you don't do this, and your involved in a car accident in your 'own' car whilst on delivery, would you be committing a criminal offence by not having this business cover in your insurance policy?
