Compulsory Wearing of Facemasks Indoors

This company is f***ing backwards. Social distance inside the office(hahaha) and wear masks. But then go out and share a van after it because we won’t spend an extra penny on more vans. They really sicken me at times.

Exactly its cheaper than the proper measure IE enforcing social distancing meaning working in staggered start times ,and no van sharing but of course they wont want to enforce that as like toonshola, said it would mean having to spend money on hired vans and god forbid that they would have to spend proper money protecting us. Instead its another public stunt to make it look like they really care ,but we all know they dont give a s**t.

Can't really work staggered start times in winter . It's dark when you start and dark when you finish and thats just normal start times. If you started 2 hrs later you'd be delivering 2 hrs in darkness.

So will they give us a box of masks each or will the current situation continue where a couple of boxes are left out for people to help themselves and by the time they all get used up about 30 people have picked the box up and stuck their fingers inside, probably touching two or three other masks when they take theirs?

For obvious reasons you will need to show evidence of that exemption otherwise the entire office could claim to have an exemption.

Can't really work staggered start times in winter .

I suspect the later starts will mostly be concentrating on parcel deliveries.
We can't really argue that you can't delivery parcels in the dark bearing in mind Amazon deliver up to 9pm.
Letter deliveries will be very much an afterthought for the next 6 weeks, probably every second day.

Somebody asked ask the manager this morning do you have to wear your mask while working at your frame or is it just to be worn when walking around the building or going to the toilet. The manager wasn't sure of the answer. Does anybody know anymore on this

The paperwork i was given says masks are voluntary. Joint statement from cwu and rm. Manager said they are mandatory but the statement says voluntary.

Hvent they always been voluntary? If you had been wearing one since March its not like you were ordered to remove it.

After reading your comment I had a check on the government web site. It actually provides a template for you to download and print an exception card.

In the public arena, is shops, customers should not be challenged in why someone is not wearing a mask, a simple answer of I'm exempt due to a medical reason is all they need to say, the person not wearing a mask could have PTSD, anxiety, copd or all manner of illnesses which Is none of that person's business, they are also protected under the DDA act as potential harassment.

In regards to an employer making masks mandatory, the employee can claim exemption due to the above reasons, they do not have to gain any accreditation from a doctor relating to it, in fact doctors have been told by the government not to issue such notes/certificates. Maybe royal mail will refer the non wearer to occupational health in regards to this matter, but no one knows until next week.

So you dont have to wear one for your break and food , does the virus care that your on youre break and eating? Still no proper distancing , still some ppl not washing hands , its okay as longs the mail goes out tho .
