Yes but in the real world it's not that practical to continually have to look for a makeshift paperweight to pin a signed for letter to the doorstep to prevent it from being blown away. Leave the letter hanging out of the letterbox instead is risky too as the homeowner could just as easily pull the letter through without providing the necessary confirmation of identity etc. No simple solution really and can understand those who opt for what in reality is the safest of all options.

It’s the managers job to read through all that, he has enough time whilst we are out on delivery. He has told us to post anything that fits so that’s what we are doing.

Of course your managers have hold you to sign for anything that fits through the letterbox, including specials.

The reason they have told you this is because it saves alot of time.

The reason they want you to save time/cut corners is so you deliver more mail/parcels. (reducing the likelyhood of you having to follow the over running proceedure/cut off)

If/when a complaint is recieved about non delivery of a special do you really think your manager is going to accept responsibility?

No, he/she will hang you out to dry and deny ever telling you to do such a thing.

As it was said to the whole of the office i think i'll be ok.

A customer can still deny receiving the item even if the door is open and handed to them, there is no signature (for what good that is anyway) only a GPS location via the PDA so hardly cast iron evidence either way.

I was on holiday for two weeks just after they brought in CV19.
Nobody told me it had changed.

Probably because we're not having the 'huddles' anymore due to social distancing rules.
