The wheels that were already very loose have well and truly fallen off in our place this week.
The whole place was barely coping with flimsy 'arrangements' (i.e. I'll use my car if you do give me something in return), but it's not worth it as much now that it's getting busier.

You dont need to do almost anything. If you are senisable you can do almost everything its easy wash hands wear a mask if you are close to anyone, cough/sneeze in a tissue and bin it try not to touch your face thats all we need to do to control the virus that may be with us forever in one form or another.Woody Guthrie wrote:You're not really getting it are you.Car sharing could spread it using the same canteen could taking your kids to school could sleeping in the same bed in fact everything we do could, so either stop doing everything or be careful and lead as normal a life as possible.
The options aren't stop doing everything or stop doing nothing.
The sensible course is to stop doing the things you don't need to do.

Been told that the majority in my old office went back to van share. No surprise there as it's a pretty weak office with a very self centred "I'm alright Jack" attitude by a lot of the workforce. A place were if you have a back they'll be a knife in it.
Had hoped they'd have learnt but nope finishing early still rules the roost.

The Sorting is of a similar situation as van share. Managers allowing people to stand a few feet away, people clearing down. You're standing there, close proximity and being bombarded with arms clearing down. The attitude is, you can van share so you can cram everyone on the sorting.

I follow all the guidelines its not hard i have been out to the pub gone to restaurant and shops used public transport and even more dangerous i have had someone i know sit next to me in a van wearing a mask, you can make all the excuses you want sharing a van is about as safe as anything else we do and far safer then hugging your kids.Acca Dacca wrote:And maintain social distancingcpsteve wrote:You dont need to do almost anything. It seems that you'd need a majority of an office to want to do it for it to even be workable in a practical sense.
It didn't even get floated in our office and there is a split in the reasoning for that.
About 40% wouldn't do it for safety reasons, another 40% would lose the job and finish they currently have, and the remainder fall a bit into both camps.

Our managers haven't really attempted to implement it.
A married couple have gone back to van sharing and another pairing but that is it.
Over half of us have never been asked if we want to.
The logistical nightmare that would ensue from 2 reserves agreeing to van share is more than they could cope with.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
