why are we not being tested

The rapid tests are unreliable anyway. BMJ article said 50% false . My wife's NHS ,they have the kits (£15 a test I think they are) has to self test day before shift and send result in. Had a cold, not covid symptoms, tested neg then went to work, was sniffing a bit and her ward manager sent her straight home. Wife says but I tested negative, manager said, ring and go for a proper test. Went, was negative, 2 days of not being at work that they had to cover, when she could have been. Image the impact on royal mail if there's tons of false positives . Those quick tests are worse than no test IMHO.

My local council are offering the rapid tests for those without symptoms from tomorrow. You can book an appointment online to have it done at the civic centre. Results sent by text/email within 30 minutes. With up to 1 in 3 cases asymptotic the bigger the take up the better.

Good that your Council are getting the testing available but as been pointed out time and time again there's nothing stopping you becoming infected within minutes of testing negative. Unless there's capacity to test daily before coming into work you still have to think you're a potential carrier and social distance accordingly

Exactly. 'act as if you have the virus' ,the latest govt spiel, oh but hang on, if I had the virus I wouldn't be going to work. More confusing messages from Boris. Couldn't write it.
