I do find it strange that they don't offer furlough as it doesn't cost them anything, 80% of your wages has to be better than half pay.iHateD2Ds wrote: ↑07 Jan 2021, 08:11Jim ,I sympathise with your predicament.
The question “Why doesn’t Royal Mail offer furlough to employees who are clinically vulnerable” is beggars belief.
I think the CWU needs to address the situation ,because until everyone is vaccinated COVID is going to be around.
In the meantime ,I would take the financial hit and stay safe, but I realise not everyone has savings to cushion the blow.

Still no sheilding letter arrived for me yet, so I’m expected to work until I get one.

If you've had a letter in the past, you should not be expected to work. If your manager says otherwise, get in touch with HR. You should also sign up to have the shielding letter delivered by email as well as snail mail, that way you'll get the letter more quickly within 24 hours of shielding being announced.yorkychris wrote: ↑10 Jan 2021, 11:56Still no sheilding letter arrived for me yet, so I’m expected to work until I get one.

I get an email, which is the letter about shielding. about a week later I get a letter posted to me. I have never registered on any gov website about receiving an email about shielding. perhaps you should speak to your GP?

Re: Lock Down.......Shielding Again.....Sick Pay All Used Up
Furlough is a redundancy of staff so they don't go on the books in the USA they use it to lay staff off without payment over here they use it as the government has shut the economy down. Thing is most business will lay off all the people on furlough in the next few months. The better question is why are we in lockdown and why are those who are at grave danger being put into harms way with a vaccine around the corner.iHateD2Ds wrote: ↑07 Jan 2021, 08:11Jim ,I sympathise with your predicament.
