Just read it. Wow.

It basically amounts to a full revision and cuts in hours in every delivery office.

This isn't cobbled together to get through a crisis, it's been pulled straight of the shelf, ready to go. No way do they intend this to be temporary.

There's no way in MCs that all boxes of letters and flats will be gone through to extract any recorded items.

With the sequencing will it get done on a Sunday (don't know if there would be the staffing available) or left till Monday. That would result in some of it getting sent out as manual - there wouldn't be the capacity to sequence what would normally get sequenced on a Friday night (both waves) and what would normally be sequenced on a Monday night (wave 1). Realistically all the stuff that would get sequenced on a Friday night will just get sent through as manual either on the Sunday night for Monday delivery or the Monday night for Tuesday delivery

Based on that no d2d will be done on Saturdays so delivery staff have to do 1/5th instead of 1/6th Mon-Fri

It says that all mail batched on the Friday has to be held at the plant and sent to the MPU's on Sunday. So the MPU will have all of Saturdays delivered letters and all of Mondays delivered letters to sequence on Sunday night. Realistically I can see it all being walksorted by single pass and therefore not sequenced.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

it'll have to be just walk sorted only as there's no way that we'd have the staffing available to sequence it and depending on sickness levels it could still end up getting sent as manual if the staff are needed for packets and Tracked (or SDs if they're also SD locker trained)

I think you're right, Sindba. A bit of a giveaway that the changes are here for the long haul and not just temporary can be found in the first line on Page 15: "Monday to Friday operations should run as normal year round".
