Overtime? Don't count on it. It's a disgrace RM have stopped overtime. People are there willing to do it yet the frames are rammed with work thrown off days before.Grumpyoldmailman wrote:You would have to have been living on another planet to not already know what the letter says. Must be a weird time for those people that don't watch or read the news and have no friends.
They step outside and are probably like WTF is going on.
Is this letter just being sent out to try to get hold of those 3 people?

Isn't it more likely to be D2D style rather than an addressed letter?Grumpyoldmailman wrote:UK Mail no doubt

Shame they have removed the css machines from MPU’s, a little bit of forward thinking that didn’t involve cost cutting and they could have had a simple alternative.SpacePhoenix wrote:They might not necessarily come though to DOs as sequenced, it'll depend on how decimated the staffing is in MCs. If the staffing as bad enough in an MC then they might revert to walk sort only, or if their mech staff levels are bad enough either batch sort only or all manual.
Chances are most MCs will be giving priority to SDs first, then Tracked, then packets

I noticed Michael Gove also gave Royal Mail workers a mention a few days ago. The government clearly doesn't wish to suspend deliveries and in fact they seem to be treating our business with some importance - almost as if we are providing a public service, even though they sold us off years ago. I don't doubt that their intentions are chiefly based on the economy and keeping thousands of mail workers working.
Boris still isn't really ordering anyone not to go to work but that you should stay at home and work from home wherever possible.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

3 DTD for me this week and two of the shops are closed!!!!!! We have been let down by the government , royal mail and more disappointingly THE UNION !!!
Young ones coming right up to me in the office , they dont seem to know what 2m distance is. Im 62 and to be honest i dont feel safe working , no sanitizer, masks or wipes only crappy undersized gloves. I may well walk off soon but do you think this union will back me up , i very much doubt it !

Their intentions are based on nothing more than with the stroke of a pen being able to exclude a workforce of 160,000 from being furloughed and entitled to 80% of their wages.

There will be a lot of people, who are now out of work. Who’ll be waiting for letters from various government bodies. So they can access money/benefits.

Depends on what you call a "government letter".5plusbonusball wrote:when was the last time you NEEDED a gov letter?as4dp wrote:surely this is the reason, why were working.so government has a means of communication with the people of this country. regardless of tv, radio or social media.
The irony is that many on here claim we're the fourth emergency service, an indespensable means of communication for the government, NHS, etc, then when there's a government letter going to every household so proving just that, it's decried as unnecessary.

When 99% have already read it, it contains nothing we don't already know, then it is unnecessary!
If it was a testing kit for every person then fine!
