POSTMAN wrote:So with all the arguments going on you now want to contaminate your car?
What about this proposed change between shifts then? Is there a decontamination process happening there?
Also, if people are driving to and from work in their own car it's going to be potentially contaminated anyway.

We've been told if you pay for business cover they will reimburse it. You can then follow partner out and move car round the delivery. Not taking any mail in you car

What we were told today is they are trying to implement the ability to use your own cars but that no mail will ever be in the cars

It will be a case of driving to your duty, parking there and staying there the entire day and getting mail from the van.

Pretty incredible that members would agree to this.
What's next, bring your kids to work to cover the other shift?
It will be a case of driving to your duty, parking there and staying there the entire day and getting mail from the van.
How do you get back to your car?
I hope it still has wheels....

Is there no way of adapting our current bags so they can fit on a bike? Most of us have a bike and it would solve a few problems.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Area H&S rep told office rep today it is an absolute no for using own cars on delivery and no more van share.

If people aren't happy with what they are being told get your managers reported and ask for clarification from area reps or branch.

Stop letting them push you about with vague answers and obvious bullshit. This is yours and your families health at stake here.

It's not like they've got anything else to do.
And I bet our rep could get his kids in on SA.

While they may be saying that no mail would ever be in your car, would they tell this to every potential thief out there? Whoopee you have business cover so if there is an accident you will be covered, great. But how about returning to you car to find windows smashed as someone saw you getting out of it and going on delivery, so assumed there may be mail in the car while you were gone.

Absolute madness on so many levels, if the CWU have actually agreed to this they might as well give up on every issue they have with the company.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.
