Just wanna say thanks to this site, it's really great source of info and trade union solidarity generally.

Whatever happens in this dispute, win, lose or draw, I think we have to build the solidarity that has been built up in this strike. I'm gonna try and get my mate to come on here (he's in the NUT) and put up the story of his grandad who took part in a militant caretakers strike. He said that even when he was ill at the end of the life he still came alive when he spoke about it and that it was one of the most beautiful times of his life.

I've found the solidarity on here both moving and inspiring. You guys and gals should be really proud of yourself because you've played a real part in revitalising the trade union movement.

The trade councils around the country are pretty much dead on their feet so we need to build up cross union bodies where we can all come together. The RMTs initiative could be a start on this:

We can get rid of the dead wood at the top of our unions and have people who really represent us and our class. This isn't the end, it's the beginning. Profit rates have soared in recent years and the rich have stuffed their pockets, while they expect us to take it lying down. Well you've showed we won't do that. Time to fight back I say. I'd definitely go for that - they are so far removed from the shop floor ............... if men are from Mars and women are from Venus I'd like to know where these people are from.
