Please be careful

Post by andy2007 »

We've had some serious problems, over the last couple of months. With people being abusive in threads about the BNP, and people coming in early, and using their cars on Deliveries.

Some people, have mistakenly thought, that we don't want people to be passionate about their beliefs. But nothing could be further from the truth!

It's not WHAT people are saying. It's the WAY THEY'RE SAYING IT. That we object to. For example: Saying that someone is a F*****g B*****d, is unacceptable. But saying that someone is disloyal to their Collegues, Union, etc.. And that they're undermining our attempts to protect our service, terms and conditions. IS acceptable. So long as you explain WHY you think that. Because it's an opinion, which you've explained. Rather than just an insult. :hmmmm

Please bear in mind, that this Forum is open to EVERYONE. And some of the threads that we've had recently. If we hadn't spent so much time editing and deleting posts. Would have given outsiders, the false impression, that we're just a bunch of thugs. Who attack anyone who doesn't agree with us. And I for one, wouldn't want people to think that way about me, or my Collegues. Would you? :hmmmm

We don't want to stifle debate. Quite the contrary. We just want you to all check your posts, and think about how others might percieve your posts. BEFORE you click on Submit.

Thanks.

I agree but have you considered that the far right are behind most of the trouble , check out some of their forums like ; i.e. " Google royal mail chat folks and join and wind the trots up on board " ( Steve Th*****n - Steve - D***** ) " & then there is the recruitment campaigns .

http://bnp.org.uk/2009/05/bnp-euro-elec ... -your-help" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

plenty of paranoia and conspiracy theories there - what a rotten lot you all are :left:

In any case the Council & EEC elections are over now .

I agree with Norbert. Some of the provocateurs seemed to appear shortly
before the elections, and just seemed to want to publicise their outfit, and
have not had anything to say since then. They will probably reappear come
the run up to the next lot of elections - probably the next General Election.

,

Are they?
I thought the two main protagonists ("I hope you go through your windscreen" and "I'll phone the IB about you") could hardly be considered "far right".

That's all the more reason, not to rise to the bait. Although the main reason that I Posted this Announcement, was that we were risking loosing Members on both sides of the arguments. Because things were getting so personal, and some people seemed to think that we (the Mods and Admin) were favouring their opponants. Although quite how that's possible, when both sides were making the same accusation, I'm not sure. :confused

What we really need to do IMHO, is to discuss these things in a civilised manner. No matter what the provocation. I know it's hard to do on here (and near impossible in person). But if we can manage to do that: We will make RMC far more accessible. Not just for Posties on both sides of the arguments (BNP and using Cars, most recently). But for anyone else who is interested in Royal Mail. For example Customers.

calling anyone a name for coming in earlry seems fine to me. in our office where we voted 11 to 1 to this action
yet these people undermine the majority of their colleagues.
the only way we can make sure executive action is never imposed again is by sticking together against .the
bosses at the top.

We would much rather have a long winded well thought out argument, picking out weak points in someone's position, than have a thread full of 1 line insults.
