Site attack this morning

Post by POSTMAN »

Will quote my host
The issue is what’s known as a “syn flood” – it’s the crudest type of attack, in essence the attacker opens thousands of connections to the server and then walks away which leaves the server saying “Hello, is anyone there?” and this clogs the server up and causes it to not be able to react to legitimate requests. Every time we restarted the web server we were seeing thousands of connections from the anonymous proxy “Tor”.

I've since setup Cloudflare and changed the name servers on the domain to point to this. Utilising Cloudflare will mitigate any synflood attacks.

I am wondering if you have information about the royal mail SMS message scams and this attack was an attempt to suppress that?

Who knows who does this type of thing

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Ever since the attack the site has been randomly kicking me out and making me sign back in.

Is my face on the middle of a board somewhere with lots of pieces of string going off in all directions?

I always wanted to be a person of interest...

Yes same here.
We are using cloudflare https://www.cloudflare.com/ now to stop more attacks, but seems there are problems.
Will chat with my host as I don't think this is for us if it's going to cause errors ect.
And i'll look at the sites software as well.
Feck sake.

I've watched a few documentaries on this, War Games, Ferris Bueller and that one where Angelina was in it and it's usually American high school kids trying to change their grades or start a nuclear war.

Has the site asked you if you want to play a game?
