What about clause 2.9 , the Attendance Part seems worrying. Is this part of management not paying the first 3 days of sick?

Derrick I don’t know where this not being paid for the first 3 days has come from , it has never been proposed by Royal Mail.

As I said in another thread the proposals they made to the union in September were unacceptable and we rejected them and will continue to do so.

Royal Mail proposals were :

No new recruit would get full sick pay until they did 6 years so

Year 1 - no sick pay
Year 2 - 20% sick pay
Year 3 - 40% sick pay
Year 4 - 60% sick pay
Year 5 - 80% sick pay
Year 6 - 100% sick pay

They wanted changes to the trigger point warnings and they wanted them to be almost automatic that stage warnings would be given.

The potential dismissal interview would be the only formal interview face to face.

The appeal would be in the way of a written summary.

The union rejected all of this.

If there are any changes they would subject to a new agreement a vote of the members. As a member of the postal Executive I will not be voting for any of the above and any detrimental attack on attendance.

So you're basically saying that any talks on attendance are almost certainly going to end in stalemate and disagreement Martin?

Not a good start to the brave new world is it?

Do you think Royal Mail will simply accept this position?

Perhaps not. But it was widely bandied about our office after Back took control.

Covid aside, I have never seen a stage warning not issued in our office for at least 15 years. Even in cases of pneumonia and cancer. The face to face meeting is just a formality, circumstances aren't taken into account at either stage one or stage two meetings, and it's been this way as long as I've been

It has been proposed by Royal Mail before , previous to the four pillars agreement.

LTB 658/17 - UPDATE ON EXTERNAL MEDIATOR'S REPORT
No. 658/17
Our Representatives and members will recall RMG’s original proposals included:

Introducing a lower starter pay rate for new entrants.
Removing a range of legacy payments including 2000 Driving Allowance, 2000 PHG Allowance, PBS ICS Time Bonus, Road Network Scheme 2007, Early Shift Protection 2000 Way Forward, LA1 Supplement, Pay Protection, Network 2007, Reserve Rights Night Shift and LGV Allowance.
Removal of election payments.
Move from weekly to monthly pay.
Align Christmas Bonus to performance.
The loss of the first 3 days paid sick leave.
So it's likely to still be an aspiration..

I’m sure Royal Mail have a lot of aspirations but getting them signed off in any kind of agreement is a different story.

Wouldn't be surprised if that were the case everywhere
