why is it we were stopped from striking on a national scale by courts but single offices strike on a regular basis ? if the courts say no to strike action is it not possible just for each office to carry out their own strike which equates to a national strike ?

The current wave of strikes are technically illegal as they are unballoted. If we had a nationwide series of unballoted strikes it's likely the Union would have legal action taken against it, including seizure of assets.

The Union is following procedure now as it should have done the last time as they didn't go to mediation, this time it will and if it fails we're balloting and we'll be out for Christmas but if it's a success then it's a 37hr week for full time and a pay rise for part time in October.

But my opinion, get ready for a battle.
CUT OFF!!!

Terry states; "The business seem reluctant to go into external mediation but they've got a choice - we either go into external mediation or we go straight to whatever the next route is for us to progress our disagreement."
So can Royal Mail choose to opt out of external mediation?

Maybe they think the cwu won't get the backing for strike action if they ballot so are calling Terry's bluff or they want us to strike in September before the parcels ramp up towards christmas

So if royal mail say no to mediation the cwu would go straight to a ballot? Possible meaning action earlier in the year not at Christmas?

The maximum impact might be a lot of people moving their custom to our competitors.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

But he is right, and every postie has to weigh the advantages and disadvantages both personally to themselves, their colleagues, and the business as well.

Any strike will drive some customers to our competitors, but if the reason for the strike is strong enough that shouldn't stop us, but it is something we should acknowledge.

Everybody in the Courier seems to be on board.
Can't see any of them voting for industrial action.
