In processing in a MC, provided that you've had the required training (for mech or the SD locker), you'll be moved around depending on where the work is. Re: walk made bigger due to revision.
It means you never get a fair allocation of rest days, the 'quieter' days will be your day off and you can't plan anything like weekend trips.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 23:03What's the difference between a "floater" and a "reserve" in DOs? We don't have "floaters" in MCs
90% off the office get a long weekend every 5 weeks while a reserve will probably never get one... ever.
Reps and management will promise they will "sort something out" but never do.

In theory. At ours the floater always ends up as a reserve by default as they beg the duty holders to work their days off.P13 wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 23:52Floaters cover rest days , reserves cover sick/annual/maternity leave .SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 23:03What's the difference between a "floater" and a "reserve" in DOs? The"duty holder"should go f**k themselves. It isn't their duty on their day off.Grumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 21:01

It is the rest day cover's duty.
If the duty holder wants to work overtime on their day off they can cover what needs covering.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: walk made bigger due to revision.
100% this. We all need to realise these duties are not our property we are just on a rota to cover them 5 days a week. The 6th day we shouldn’t even be in work so we shouldn’t be able to barge in and move somebody else around. It will never change of course but it’s all wrong, like most things in this hellhole.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 22:15The"duty holder"should go f**k themselves. It isn't their duty on their day off.Grumpyoldmailman wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 21:01

Re: walk made bigger due to revision.
My guess is that the DOM thinks by letting the duty holder work their normal duty when they're working their day off it'll get done quicker with them knowing duty the best

Re: walk made bigger due to revision.
Like others ours has been pushed through without hardly any feedback from the staff , the duties are miles too big and dont even make sense , but the computer says yes . Rep recommended it ( who weve lost faith in) all due to pt to ft numbers being made up which is fantastic but shdnt be put through just regarding that . All been a sham . Partners office a mess too .

Re: walk made bigger due to revision.
Not as easy as it sounds. Depends on so many different factors mainly: the type of character you are & what sort of a Manager you have. Not everyone has the confidence to argue the toss with their DOM, and sometimes the Unit Rep is not that supportive.

Re: walk made bigger due to revision.
If you had an office ballot and 46 out of 72 voted YES ... that's a majority, what's the problem? If everyone that didn't vote had voted NO it still wouldn't have been rejected.
TBH you can't say it was signed off by the Unit Rep without you knowing if he'd arranged a ballot?

Re: walk made bigger due to revision.
We had a similiar problem with Reserves not getting Saturdays Off (which I agree is wrong). After checking with the Area Delivery Rep we were told that although a Reserve may not get a "Rolling Saturday" as his day off he is entitled to the same ammount of Saturdays Off in any given period.yubin282 wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 14:20It means you never get a fair allocation of rest days, the 'quieter' days will be your day off and you can't plan anything like weekend trips.

You should flag this up to your DOM and try an ensure the Reserves at least get the same ammount of Saturdays Off. Although I know it's always a struggle you can't let the DOM get away with "Lazy Management" he's got to play by the rules as well.

Well the unit rep 'advised' members to vote YES knowing full well that issues had not been resolved and probably never will be, and now the office is unsurprisingly a total mess.

Re: walk made bigger due to revision.
That kinda depends on the time they were finishing before. If they were finishing half hr early every day for whatever reason , coming in early, not taking trolley ,not taking breaks then it's obvious the walks would be made bigger. I'm not saying this IS the case here ,just saying if you're finished early every day, expect to get more work.worktotime wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 06:24so the walks have got bigger even though you have less time to complete it, that sounds about right with the full farce of the agreement anyway just do what you can do within your hours and take it back
