Average overtime in holiday pay?
I have worked for Royal mail for almost 6 months and I'm on a permanent 20 hour contract. I do work overtime most weeks and average 30 to 40 hours every week.
I've just had a week off, but I have only been paid for my 20 hours. I had been told that average overtime was calculated over a period and this would be paid on any leave that I took.
Hoping someone can let me know how this works and if I am/aren't entitled to the payment.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Average overtime in holiday pay?
At the moment it is paid in 6 month blocks, I think the next payment is due 27th of May.
The hope is to eventually pay it as you take the leave but the system is still being adjusted.

Re: Average overtime in holiday pay?
You will only get a payment if you have done (been paid for) at least 8 hours overtime in each of the following periods. This will be 'normal' overtime paid at SSPR, 1st 10 hours, or over 10 hours rates - SA payments do not count. The periods are:
27 Sep 21 - 31 Oct 21
01 Nov 21 - 28 Nov 21
27 Dec 21 - 30 Jan 22
31 Jan 22 - 27 Feb 22
28 Feb 22 - 27 Mar 22
The period 29 Nov 21 - 26 Dec 21 is not counted as many/most part timers are put on temporary full time contracts.
If you failed to do 8 hours in any of the periods, you will not receive any payment at all thanks to the agreement reached between RM and the CWU. Last time round I missed an entire six month period payment by being less than 2 hours short in one period, but some people have missed out by just a few minutes! You say you have worked for "almost 6 months" - if you weren't in before 31 Oct 21 (or didn't do 8 hours in that period) then you will not get any payment.
As Woody says, the payment for the Sep 21 - Mar 22 period is due on 27 May 22.

Re: Average overtime in holiday pay?
Thanks for the information, yes I only started on 30th November, so will have missed first 2 periods in that example.
So, hopefully I'll get paid for the OT after my next week off in the summer.

Re: Average overtime in holiday pay?
Just a reminder if you donโt meet the criteria (set by RM, agreed by CWU) you are still owed average holiday pay as stated by employment law. You will just need to put in a bit of work yourself and go through ACAS.
The day is gonna come when weโre all gonna have to testify.

It wasnโt last time either, until the week we were actually due to get it.
