Annual leave whilst on sick leave

Post by K.talia »

I have just been signed off from my GP as unfit to work for 3 months. However during those 3 months I have booked 3 weeks of annual leave which I booked before I fell ill. What happens to those weeks of annual leave ?. Can I request for them to be converted into sick leave instead so that I can use them once I go back to work and they wont be lost ?. Should I phone my manager and just ask ? Not sure what the procedure is. Im a part time worker- Saturday AG if that makes a difference. Thank you all

Different people will probably have different experiences.

From my experience if you are off sick, the holidays that you have booked during the sick period will not be deducted from your entitlement. So when you return to work you should still have 3 weeks leave to take.

I believe there is some flexibility as far as carrying over leave, that couldn't be taken because of sick.

Be aware, if you are off sick and you actually go on holidays then you will probably lose that time from your entitlement.
