POST OFFICE: ATTACK ON OUR REPRESENTATIVE STRUCTURE – ESCALATION TO ACAS

Further to LTB 575/17 dated 26thOctober and the attached correspondence between the Union and the Post Office.

Despite my letter to Martin Kirke, Group HR Director of 23rd October in which I formally instigated Stage 3 of the Collective Dispute Resolution Procedure (CDRP) procedure, the Post Office is continuing to refuse to engage. Therefore, as Stage 3 of the CDRP has now been exhausted I have escalated this matter to ACAS in full accordance with the wording contained within our IR Framework Agreement (the CEIRF). I know our Representatives will be disappointed with the lack of engagement by the Post Office; however, we have rigorously followed the CDRP and consequently now is the time for ACAS involvement.

As a result of the Post Office’s refusal to engage in the CDRP, I have written two letters as follows:

 Martin Kirke informing him that due to his refusal to engage in CDRP Stage 3, I have formally escalated this matter to ACAS and we would expect the Status Quo to apply pending the conclusion of the ACAS process. (Appendix A)

 David Prince, Chief Conciliator, ACAS formally requesting urgent intervention of the offices of ACAS for the purposes of conciliation or mediation in full accordance with the Collective Engagement & Industrial Relations Framework Agreement (CEIRF). (Appendix B)

I am alerting you to these developments in advance of our National Briefing scheduled for tomorrow.
