Union negotiators are hoping for a "more collaborative and better prepared approach" from Post Office management at the next scheduled pay meeting after the company failed to put forward a formal pay offer at the first negotiating session this week.

Andy Furey CWU assistant secretary Andy Furey reports: "Our team met with Roger Gale, Tom Moran, John Whitefoot and Pat Mulligan on Wednesday and, unfortunately, they made it clear from the start that they were 'at this stage' unable to table a formal pay offer."

The business also failed to respond positively to the union's challenge to make good on their monetary commitments from the previous pay settlement in terms of the £500 transformation lump sum or the appropriate portion of the agreed 3.4 per cent efficiency-savings payment.

"We want a realistic and reasonable pay offer so that real progress can be made quickly"

"Clearly, the lack of progress made in respect of these outstanding monies as well as a lack of movement almost a month after the formal pay date in regard to this year's pay negotiations, is extremely frustrating for all concerned," said Andy.

"We have agreed with the business that we will meet again on May 5th, when we hope there will be a more collaborative and better prepared approach from management that recognises in a meaningful way the truly enormous contribution that our members have made in regard to Crown Transformation and excellent customer service.

"We want a realistic and reasonable pay offer so that real progress can be made quickly."

As well as securing payment of outstanding monies, the CWU is seeking a 'no strings attached' pay increase of at least 1.9 per cent for 2015/16, in line with the rise achieved for Admin and Supply Chain members.
