LTB 293/22 – POST OFFICE: PAY DISPUTE 2021/22 – OFFICIAL STRIKE THURSDAY 14TH JULY (ADMIN & SUPPLY CHAIN)
No. 293/2022
30th June 2022
Dear Colleagues
POST OFFICE: PAY DISPUTE 2021/22 – OFFICIAL STRIKE THURSDAY 14TH JULY (ADMIN & SUPPLY CHAIN)
Further to LTBs 285/22 and 286/22 dated 27th and 28th June 2022 respectively.
We met with Lee Kelly, Employee Relations and Policy Director today on pay. Despite Post Office’s recent statement to the press that they “remain hopeful that we can reach a pay agreement soon”, there was no movement at today’s meeting from the pay freeze position for 2021/22 and the current offer of a 3% pay increase plus a £500 lump sum payment for 2022/23. Given this disrespectful attitude, which is being driven by Nick Read, CEO, and his Senior Directors, we have this afternoon served the two weeks’ notice for strike action for our Admin & Supply Chain members for:
Thursday 14th July (Admin & Supply Chain only)
The Crown members’ strike on Monday 11th July will go ahead as planned.
The blame for the need to take further action lies squarely at the door of the senior Post Office leadership, who have failed to offer a fair and reasonable pay settlement for both 2021/22 and 2022/23 for our Key Worker members. RPI inflation stands at 11.7% (May) and yet our members are being offered a paltry 3% consolidated pay increase over 2 years which is outrageous.
Finally, Post Office will be writing to us formally, stating its position and once received, I would in turn anticipate a further referral to Acas specifically in regard to the rejected pay offer for 2022/23. There is a likelihood that another ballot for strike action will be necessary as the current trade dispute relates solely to the pay freeze for 2021/22.
Further developments will be reported.
Yours sincerely
Andy Furey
Assistant Secretary

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
