LTB 657/17 - POST OFFICE: FURTHER DISCUSSION WITH THE POST OFFICE AT ACAS – INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
No. 657/2017

6th December 2017

Dear Colleagues

POST OFFICE: FURTHER DISCUSSION WITH THE POST OFFICE AT ACAS – INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

Further to LTB 638/17 dated 22nd November.

I wish to update Branches in respect of a further 2 days of discussions with the Post Office facilitated by ACAS held on Monday and Tuesday 4th and 5th December. The purpose of these additional talks was to further explore options for finding a way forward regarding the impasse surrounding the Representative structure and the IR Framework Agreement. Once again the talks were facilitated by David Prince, Chief Conciliator, ACAS, and his colleague, Marina Glasgow, Senior Advisor and our team comprised of Lynn Simpson and Mole Meade, Postal Executive members and myself.

The two days were constructive and both parties now have a greater understanding of each other’s perspectives. ACAS will now be presenting a report to both parties for further consideration with the aim of helping the process move forward to a mutually positive outcome.

In respect of next steps both parties have agreed to meet again at ACAS on Thursday 4th January with a view to concluding this process. To provide for the most conducive of environments for further talks to take place it was also agreed to extend the moratorium in respect of the IR Representatives retaining their full-time status, roles and responsibilities until Monday 15th January. This is still a serious situation for our union; accordingly whilst recognising there is still some distance between the parties, the extension of the moratorium will hopefully enable positive discussions to take place.

Further developments will be reported as appropriate. Any queries in relation to this LTB should be directed to Lea Sheridan on 020 8971 7361 or lsheridan@cwu.org.

Yours sincerely

Andy Furey

Assistant Secretary
