LTB 638/17 - POST OFFICE: JOINT WORKSHOP WITH THE POST OFFICE AT ACAS
No. 638/2017

22nd November 2017

Dear Colleagues

POST OFFICE: JOINT WORKSHOP WITH THE POST OFFICE AT ACAS

Further to LTB 611/17 dated 10th November.

I wish to update Branches in respect of the 2 day joint workshop facilitated by ACAS which was held on Monday and Tuesday 20th & 21st November. The purpose of the ACAS workshop was to seek to establish a way forward in respect of the dispute surrounding the IR Framework Agreement and the associated Representative structure. The workshop was facilitated by David Prince, Chief Conciliator, ACAS, and his colleague, Marina Glasgow, Senior Advisor and our team comprised of Lynn Simpson and Mole Meade, Postal Executive members and myself.

Overall, the workshop was conducted in a constructive manner by all parties and there was a clear sense from all concerned that ideally a path must be found through the difficulties we are encountering. It would be fair to say some progress was made, although there is still a distance between the parties over a number of key issues.

I am pleased to report a further 2 days of meetings have been agreed, to be held on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th December. These meetings have been agreed to be negotiations rather than a workshop and ACAS will undertake a conciliation role. Clearly this engagement with the Post Office is welcomed and we are encouraged by the commitment to meet again under the auspices of ACAS. However, there is still a significant way to go before an Agreement can be concluded.

Further developments will be reported as appropriate. Any queries in relation to this LTB should be directed to Lea Sheridan on 020 8971 7361 or lsheridan@cwu.org.

Yours sincerely

Andy Furey
