LTB 318/17 - Post Office: Pay Negotiations 2017/18
No.318/2017
9th June 2017
Dear Colleague
POST OFFICE: PAY NEGOTIATIONS 2017/18
Further to LTB 287/17 dated 22nd May.
Our negotiating team met with the Post Office again on Wednesday 7th June as part of the ongoing discussions surrounding our pay claim.
The Post Office had, at the previous meeting, rejected our claim on the grounds of affordability. Therefore this meeting was specifically scheduled to analyse the costings associated with each component part of our claim. Suffice to say the meeting wasn't fruitful and no real progress was made. We have, however, agreed to meet again on Monday 19th June which is a positive.
We have advised the Post Office formally in writing that when we meet next we would expect to receive a formal offer in response to our claim, particularly in view of the fact that by this time we will be nearly 3 months beyond the pay claim date. We have also emphasised that our members would take a dim view of any further prevarication on this important issue. Clearly the Post Office, without further delay, needs to make a fair and reasonable pay offer in recognition of the immense and invaluable contribution made by our members.
Further developments will be reported.
Yours sincerely
Andy Furey
Assistant Secretary
